Update: Yu had earlier sent out the media invites for December 7 as the launch date for Yu Yutopia, but the company has now postponed the launch event to December 17. The new date was announced by Yu’s founder and CEO Rahul Sharma on Twitter. The title of this post has been changed accordingly.

After a long series of rumors and teasers, Yu Televentures has finally announced the Yu Yutopia launch date. Yu has sent out the media invites for an event that is scheduled for December 7. The invite bears the message, “The Real Beast is Coming to Town on 07.12.2015.”

It means Yu is all set to launch its first-ever flagship smartphone. We don’t have complete information related to the smartphone, but the company has posted a number of teasers in the past that give us an indication of some of the features. The Yu Yutopia is expected to come with 32GB of storage, Quad HD display, 4GB RAM, and a big battery with support for Quick Charging. It will also feature the metallic body. There is no wording over the pricing of the phone either, but it is expected to cost around Rs. 20,000 (about $300).

Other than the above features and specs, the Yu Yutopia is rumored to come with 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front shooter. It is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and run on CyanogenOS 12 based on Android Lollipop v5.1.

Yu has already started to take the registrations for the selling the phone and if you are interested, then you can register yourself from the Yu Yutopia registration page. It is not clear what type of sales model company willl be following, but Yu has confirmed one thing that it will not sell the phone via flash sale model.

If you are unaware about the Yu Televentures, then it is the subsidary of Micromax and focuses on manufacturing smartphones that are either entry-level or mid-range. The company has four smartphones in its portfolio till now, the Yu Yuphoria, Yu Yureka, Yu Yureka Plus, and Yu Yunique. Among these phones, only the Yu Yunique runs on stock Android OS while others run on CyanogenOS.
