YU Televentures CEO and founder Rahul Sharma has finally made the much-awaited announcement related to the Android Marshmallow update availability for its devices. He said that Marshmallow beta builds are currently available for four devices: YU Yunique, Yureka, Yureka Plus, and Yuphoria.

He also posted a video showing three YU device getting rebooted to Android Marshmallow builds. As for the stable Marshmallow builds, Sharma said they would be made available within next 30 days. It means you do not have to wait for too long to get the latest software update on your YU device.

Additionally, Sharma announced that YU has made its OS open source as part of “Project Highway” and is inviting all developers to participate and contribute. The new open source OS has been named as YU-OPEN-OS.

Talking about Project Highway, Sharma said, “We will be curating source codes from multiple drop points, such as Google’s AOSP repos, Chipset Vendors Repos, Various ROMs (where the community developers contribute), Internal YU customization and finally creating one manifest which will be able to support all YU based devices and other Andriod devices too.”
