A new leak has appeared on the internet which is claiming to be revealing all the specifications and a bunch of images related to Xiaomi’s next entry-level offering, the Redmi 5. The leak is coming from the Chinese social network site Weibo where the users as shared images appearing to be a part of promotional materials as a proof to back his claims.
It suggests that while the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will continue to be an entry-level release, it will see a significant change in terms of performance as it will be having two variants powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 630 chipsets. If this is true, it will be the first time Xiaomi will be going for such mid-range processors as it usually packs Redmi series phones (not to confuse with Redmi Note series) with Snapdragon 400 series processors.
The leak further mentions that there will be three variants of the Redmi 5: 3GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. These models are said to be priced at CNY 859 (about Rs. 8,000), CNY 1039 (about Rs. 10,000), and CNY 1099 (about Rs. 10,500) respectively.
Other Redmi 5 specifications include a 5-inch HD display with support for two SIM cards. There is a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. The whole package is powered by a 3650mAh battery which is smaller than the current Redmi 4 offering’s 4100mAh battery. On the software front, it is said to ship with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat 7.1.1.
The latest Redmi 5 leak has emerged only a couple of weeks after we heard about Xiaomi’s plans regarding the Redmi Note 5 mid-range smartphone.
