After a bunch of teasers since past couple of weeks, Xiaomi has finally launched the Mi MIX 2 which is its second bezel-less smartphone in the market. The announcement took place at an event held in Beijing, China earlier today and introduced the world to the successor of the Mi MIX from last year which triggered the trend of bezel-less smartphones in the industry.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio. This is a smaller display as compared to last year’s offering which came with a 6.4-inch panel. In terms of the bottom bezel, the newest smartphone boasts 12% smaller chin as compared to the Mi MIX. Since it has almost negligible top bezels, the team has made use of hidden sound guided speaker and ultrasonic proximity sensor.

Under the hood, it has the 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB RAM and option to choose from 64GB, 128GB or 256GB internal storage variants. There is also an 8GB RAM variant with 256GB storage which Xiaomi has named as the Mi MIX 2 Special Edition. Other than the bump in the RAM and storage capacity, the special edition variant is entirely made up of Ceramic with Black and White color options. The standard edition has a metallic body with aluminum frames and it has been announced only in Black color.
