Xiaomi has now officially confirmed that it will be launching the Mi MIX 2 smartphone on September 11th in an event to be held in China. The announcement was made by the company’s via its official Weibo account and it has already revealed that the upcoming smartphone has been designed by French designer Philippe Starck. He is the same person who designed the original Mi MIX which was launched last year.

In the announcement post, Xiaomi did not reveal any specific details except for sharing the launch event teaser image. The image shows an outline drawing of a device with minimal bezels which is the signature feature of the Mi MIX lineup. There is also a tagline “2.0 bezel-less display” which appears to be a hint towards the next-generation bezel-less display which we will get to see with the Mi MIX 2 launch.

If we go by rumors, the Mi MIX 2 is said to sport a screen to body ratio of over 93% which is even more than Mi MIX’s 91.3% ratio. The smartphone has also been spotted on Geekbench website which revealed it to be running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. But there have been rumors suggesting that Xiaomi will be launching the phone in different configurations like 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB. It will most likely be running Android Nougat based MIUI 9 on the software front.
