After about 2 years of long wait, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is finally official and it seems like it was worthing waiting for. Xiaomi’s Vice President Hugo Barra unveiled the latest flagship smartphone from the Chinese brand at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The Mi 5 has been launched in three variants which differ in the terms of chipset clock speed, RAM, and internal storage.
The three Xiaomi Mi 5 variants are as mentioned below:
- 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage
- 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage
- 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage
The first two variants come with a 3D Glass back cover and the last one aka Xiaomi Mi 5 PRO comes with a 3D Ceramic back cover. As per Xiaomi, the PRO variant scored an amazing 142084 on the AnTuTu benchmark test.
As for the remaining specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch Full HD 16 LED display. It has a 16MP rear camera with 4-axis optical image stabilization and a 4MP UltraPixel front-facing camera. Xiaomi has used the Sony IMX298 sensor for the rear camera which comes with phase detection autofocus. The whole package is powered by a 3000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The Mi 5 features a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button. It is NFC compatible and runs on MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow. The phone will be available in White, Black, and Gold colors in China from March 1.
The first two variants of the Mi 5 have been priced at RMB 1999 (about Rs. 21,000) and 2299 (about Rs. 24,000) respectively while the Mi 5 PRO variant is priced at RMB 2699 (about Rs. 28,000).
