WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature for its app across the platforms which allows users to share colorful text statuses. This is pretty much similar to what Facebook has been offering via its smartphone apps for quite some time now. It means users can now be more creative while posting a status and stand out among their friends on WhatsApp.
With this new feature, you will find a new pencil icon next to the existing camera icon meant for adding a new status. This icon will take you to a new interface from where you will be able to change background color and font style. There is also an option for adding emojis if you want to. Once you are done creating your own unique and colorful text status, tap the Send button to share it with your friends.
Other than these customizations, everything else remains the same. It means you can still check who gets to see your text status, who has seen your status, and the total number of views. You can also reply to other users’ colorful text statuses like you usually do for normal image/video statuses.
In a statement, one of the WhatsApp spokespeople said,
“Now you never have to worry about getting the word out to all your family and friends. Whether you’re looking for vacation recommendations or notifying a group about the address for a party, the text-based status feature allows you to update your contacts in a fun and personal way.”
This new feature is currently rolling out on WhatsApp for Android as well as the web. If you have not received it yet, you should see it anytime soon.
