While we heard rumors on various occasions before, it is now official. The Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has confirmed that it would launch the world’s first smartphone with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone in question is the Vivo Xplay 5 which will be launched on March 1 at Beijing Water Cube, China.
Other than the huge 6GB RAM, the Xplay 5 will also feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. Both the launch date and configuration were confirmed by Vivo through teaser images posted on Weibo. Additionally, Vivo’s upcoming smartphone will also feature dual-curved display and Hi-Fi 3.0 audio.
The highest amount of RAM available among currently available smartphones is 4GB. It was first seen in the Asus Zenfone 2 and was followed by smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 series, Galaxy Note 5, OnePlus 2, and most recently announced Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and the LG G5.
Vivo has not revealed any other information about the phone but a few Xplay 5 renders were leaked earlier today. The phone appears to stunning and premium in the renders with almost zero side-bezels. Even the curved display also looks amazing.
