It is finally official. The Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone and its variants will be officially launched at the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event scheduled for February 21. Samsung has sent out the media invites for the same and has also released a teaser video on YouTube.
The video shows a Samsung Gear VR headset and a cube with light coming out of it. The launch of the Galaxy S7 and its variants is something which will happen for sure but it is the Gear VR headset in the teaser video the description, Get ready to rethink what a phone can do, which has increased the anticipation level. We don’t really what it could mean? Maybe a new VR headset from Samsung or may be something like Lenovo’s TheaterMax which would apparently make a standard 2D content appear like it’s in VR.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are expected to come in screen size of 5.1- and 5.5-inch with Quad HD resolution and Super AMOLED display. The phone are also rumored to come with 4GB RAM with a choice of Exynos 8890/Snapdragon 820 chipset or maybe both of them. There may be a 12MP rear shooter which appears to be smaller than the existing 16MP camera on the Galaxy S6 but is said to better than it.
As for the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event itself, it will kick off at 19:00 CET in Barcelona. The live streaming of the same can be caught at Samsung’s YouTube channel or via Samsung Newsroom. While the launch event is now confirmed for February 21, both the smartphones are tipped to go on sale in the USA and Europe from March 11.
