Samsung India has now officially launched the Galaxy Note 8 in the country at an event which wrapped just a few minutes ago. The latest flagship phablet was first introduced at an event held in New York City last month which means Indian fans did not have to wait too long for the release here.
On the Galaxy Note 8, you will find a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass, and almost negligible bezels. Under the hood, it has the Exynos 8895 processor which is the only major difference from the US variant which comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The phablet has 6GB of RAM combined with 64GB storage. There is support for microSD card expansion.
In the camera department, Samsung has used the dual 12-megapixel camera setup which makes it first dual camera smartphone from the company. While both these sensors feature optical image stabilization, the primary sensor offers Dual Pixel autofocus with f/1.7 aperture and the secondary sensor is a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. Other camera features include the 2x optical zoom and 10x overall zoom along with the ability to adjust focus even after clicking a photo which Samsung likes to call Live Focus. You can also use both sensors at the same time to get a close-up shot and a wide-angle shot of the same object with a single tap. As for taking selfies, it has an 8-megapixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture.
The whole package is powered by a 3300mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging support. It will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Other features include a fingerprint scanner, Iris scanner, NFC, IP68 certification for both phablet and S Pen, and USB Type-C port. The latest Galaxy Note features Bixby assistant and supports Samsung DeX functionality.
Since it is a Galaxy Note device, you will also get the S Pen stylus which has been improved for even better functionality. There is an all-new Live Message feature which lets you create custom animated text using the S Pen and which can be shared with others in the GIF format.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy Note 8 at Rs. 67,900 in India. It is currently up for preorders exclusively via Amazon India with sales starting September 22nd. With each order, you will get a free wireless charger and one time screen replacement for Rs. 990. You can also get Rs. 4000 cashback by using an HDFC Bank credit card.
You will also be able to get it from Samsung’s online store. The phablet has been made available in Midnight Black and Maple Gold color options.
