Paytm has finally announced the public availability of messaging functionality within its app named Paytm Inbox. This feature will offer an extra ability for users to have a conversation with their contacts without having to leave the app. It is obviously in addition to existing core functionality of the app which is to send and receive money from anyone.

Paytm Inbox is an integrated feature within the existing Paytm app and is available as an extra tab. Tapping on it gives you four sections: Messages, Notifications, Orders, and Games. All these sections are self-explanatory but here is a quick overview of what each of these does:

  • Messages: Check all your Paytm Inbox conversations from here. You can create new conversations and even have group chats. It also supports sending photos and videos.
  • Notifications: Check all Paytm notifications including deals and order confirmations.
  • Orders: Check the history of all orders placed through the app including money sent/received and purchased via Paytm Mall.
  • Games: Play fun games meant to help you kill some free time and get rid of boredom.

Talking about the launch, Paytm said:

“We are excited to launch Paytm Inbox today, a new offering on our app with a fast and simple messaging service that will let you chat with your friends and family, and send/request money at the same time. You can even chat with your friendly neighborhood shopkeeper and order stuff easily and send them money instantly on delivery. This will make payments easier, as everyone from individuals to local retail stores to home-based entrepreneurs can now interact and initiate payments on-the-go.”

To get Paytm Inbox feature, you simply need to make sure that you have the latest version of the app. You can do so by visiting the Play Store and if there is an update, install it and you will see the new feature when you will launch the app. It should be noted that the feature is currently available on Android, the iOS update will arrive later.
