OnePlus has finally launched the much-awaited flagship OnePlus 5. And as many of you might have expected, the latest flagship of the year comes with all the high-end specifications but the team focused on improvements and how the new OnePlus device offers best possible user experience which goes beyond specifications. This was the reason it got them out of the way by unveiling them in a single side.
The OnePlus 5 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display which is same as the predecessors OnePlus 3 and 3T. Under the hood, it has the octa-core 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDR4X RAM (depending on the model). On the storage front, buyers will get the option to choose from 64GB and 128GB of onboard storage (UFS 2.1 2-LANE) with no microSD card expansion support.
The major change in the OnePlus 5 in comparison to previous OnePlus offerings is that it features dual cameras on the back. These are 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors with f/1.7 and f/2.6 aperture respectively where the latter one is a telephoto lens. On the front, it has a 16-megapixel shooter.
There is a ceramic fingerprint scanner on the front which is said to be capable of unlocking the device in just 0.2 seconds. The whole package is powered by a 3300mAh battery with support for Dash Charge fast charging. On the software front, it will be running the latest OxygenOS based on Android Nougat 7.1.1 which comes with a bunch of new features like Reading Mode and Gaming Do Not Disturb Mode. Other features of the flagship include USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC compatibility.
The OnePlus 5 has been priced at $479 (about Rs. 30,800) in the United States and €499 (about Rs. 35,000) in Europe for the base model. It has been launched in Midnight Black (6GB/64GB model) and Slate Grey (8GB/128GB model) color options. It is currently up for grabs via “early drop” sale (limited units only) in the US but will actually go on sale starting June 27th. As for Indian fans, the OnePlus 5 will be launched officially on July 22nd with sales starting at 4 PM IST.
