If you are a Nokia fan or planning to buy a Nokia-branded smartphone in the future, you might see the phone featuring camera from none other than Zeiss optics. HMD Global, the license holder to Nokia brand, announced earlier today that it has inked a deal with Zeiss optics which will allow it to use Zeiss camera on future Nokia smartphones.
This recently announced deal marks the return of a brand collaboration which was the center of Nokia phones marketing strategy years ago. You might remember mobile phones like the Nokia 808 PureView and Nokia Lumia 1020 which features great cameras for that time and with clear Zeiss branding.
In the official announcement, HMD Global mentioned that it will be working with Zeiss optics to bring the best possible camera to future Nokia smartphones with a goal of setting up “new imaging standards” in the industry. It is quite clear that going forward, Nokia’s focus will be on offering distinctive and better smartphone photography to make itself stand apart from the crowd and attract even more buyers to the brand.
Arto Nummela, CEO of HMD Global said,
“Collaborating with ZEISS is an important part of our commitment to always deliver the very best experience for our customers. Our fans want more than a great smartphone camera, they want a complete imaging experience that doesn’t just set the standard but redefines it. Our fans expect it and, together with ZEISS, we’re delivering it – co-developed imaging excellence for all.”
At the moment, Nokia has not shared any details regarding when will the first smartphone with Zeiss camera will be launched. But if rumors are to be believed, the upcoming Nokia 9 will be the first Zeiss camera smartphone which is also said to have a dual rear camera setup.
