The Nokia 3 has now been confirmed to receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat update by the end of August which is next month. This is certainly a good news for all the users of Nokia’s cheapest Android smartphone at the moment. It was launched earlier this year alongside the Nokia 5 and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas tweeted to make the announcement regarding the update timeframe for the Nokia 3. When one user asked, he further clarified that it will be a global release which means all users worldwide will receive it at the same point without any region restrictions. The team is simply waiting to get mandatory all market-related approvals before pushing the release button. With this announcement, HMD Global is fulfilling its promise of delivering software updates to its smartphones.

The Nokia 3 was announced for the Indian market last month and has been priced quite aggressively at Rs. 9,499. It sports a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display with quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone offers 16GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD cards. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The whole package is powered by a 2630mAh battery with no fingerprint scanner.
