Lenovo has updated its official support page to reflect which smartphones will be receiving major Android software updates in the future. And to everyone’s surprise, it has decided the entire Phab 2 series will not be receiving an upgrade to Android Nougat. This even includes the Phab 2 Pro, the world’s first Tango-enabled smartphone which was last year.

The updated Android upgrade roadmap also lists Lenovo Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus as the devices which will not be receiving any further software updates. This is certainly disappointing for all Phab 2 series owners, especially those who purchased the Phab 2 Pro costing about Rs. 29,990 (about $500) last year. Since it costs so much and also happens to be the world’s first Tango-enabled smartphone, at least one major Android update should have been provided but looks like it will keep running Android 6.0 Marshmallow now.

Lenovo has never had a good track record when it comes to updating its smartphones to latest Android versions. Even now, it has not listed any device for which Android O update has been planned. But as the company recently announced the switch to stock Android by ditching the custom Vibe Pure UI skin, we can expect the situation to improve and see faster software updates in the future. It recently launched the Lenovo K8 Note as the first smartphone from the company to ship with stock Android.
