If you own a BlackBerry Priv and are waiting for the Android Nougat update, there is a disappointing news for you. BlackBerry Mobility Solutions General Manager Alex Thurber has confirmed that they will not be releasing Nougat update to the BlackBerry Priv. He made the announcement during a podcast show of UTB Blogs, a BlackBerry fan site.
During the conversation, Thurber said that it is quite difficult to get all the partners on board for working on the update and then eventually releasing it. He described the whole effort to bringing all partners together as “next to impossible.”
Even though the reason does make sense, it is definitely a disappointing confirmation for all Priv owners worldwide. BlackBerry launched the Priv in 2015 and was made available in India last year. It was the first smartphone from the Canadian brand to run Android operating system as the company has been known for its BlackBerry OS. The smartphone was launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and was upgraded to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow last year in April.
This is not the only well-known smartphone which has been denied by Android Nougat update by phone makers. OnePlus has already refused to update the OnePlus 2 and similarly, Lenovo has confirmed it will not be releasing Nougat for any of the Phab 2 series smartphones.
