During the CES 2016 keynote, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced the arrival of world’s most popular movie and TV shows streaming service Netflix in India and about 130 more countries around the world. He also said that with this, Netflix is now available in world’s “all major countries” except China.
Talking about the plans, you can get a Netflix membership starting from Rs. 500. It is the Basic plan under which you will get only Standard Definition (SD) quality and with the option of streaming only one screen at a time. The next plan is the Standard plan for Rs. 650 under which you will get HD quality along with the option of streaming on up to two screens simultaneously. The last plan for you is the Premium plan which will set you back by Rs. 800. It will offer you 4K content and freedom of streaming on up to 4 screens at a time. Additionally, like the USA, you will get one month of free subscription with each plan with option of cancelling your membership whenever you want.
Netflix has a catalogue of thousands of movies and TV series which includes both Hollywood and Bollywood. The service is also known for its own original TV series, Netflix Original, like Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.
Even though Netflix is a global leader when it comes to providing movies and TV shows, it will not be an easy journey for the service in India. It will be competing against the existing players like Hooq, Spuul, Eros Now, and Hotstar.
