Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now released the official mAadhaar app for Android devices. The app will allow users to carry their Aadhar information wherever they go with ease and directly on the smartphone. It is aimed at encouraging the digital media usage and will prevent the need of carrying the hard copy of Aadhar.
Once a user has downloaded the mAadhaar app and created the profile, it will automatically fetch all details linked to that particular user’s Aadhaar number. It will include information like the name, date of birth, gender, address, and even the photo. It is basically like have a scanned copy of your Aadhaar.
Other than this, the app will allow users to lock or unlock their biometric data easily and quickly. The app description says once a user decides to enable the Biometric Locking system, it will stay locked unless he or she chooses to unlock it which will be temporary or simply disable it. It will also make it easier for users to update their Aadhaar information which will also be reflected within the app once the update request will get processed.
The mAadhaar app will even allow users to share a QR code and password protected eKYC data for retrieving the accurate demographic information. While the app is listed with all of these features on the Play Store, UIDAI has made it clear that it is currently a beta version and some of the features will be added to the app later through update
