Recently, we have heard the rumors that Samsung is working on Exynos 8870 chipset. The processor is said to come with identical specs as the earlier announced Exynos 8890 SoC but with a little lower clock speed. There are reports that Samsung will be releasing two variants of the Galaxy S7, one with the Snapdragon 820 and another with the Exynos 8870 chipset. There is one more report that suggests that Samsung will use Exynos 8890 chipset for its own smartphones while the Exynos 8870 will be for other OEMs. One of the potential partners is Meizu which has already launched devices that feature an Exynos chipset and now, as per a new rumor from China, Lenovo will be the new customer for the Exynos 8870 chipset.
It is not known what would be the specifications of the smartphone but since Exynos 8870 is said to be a high-end chipset, it is expected that Lenovo would be using it in a flagship smartphone. The launch of the phone is expected to be as early as the second quarter of 2016, but it is also possible that we might not see the phone before the second half of the next year.
