The year of 2017 has seen a lot of smartphone launches like every year but the trend for the year has been the release of bezel-less phones. We have seen different OEMs releasing their respective phones and now, it seems like HTC is all set to join the club as well. As per a report coming from a French publication Frandroid, HTC will be launching a new flagship named HTC U11 Plus in November this year which will feature 18:9 bezel-less display.
This new flagship is said to have the codenamed Ocean Master and will be the first HTC smartphone to feature bezel-less display. The Taiwanese OEM is mentioned to have partnered with JDI for display panel supplies which will be 5.99-inch Quad HD (2880 x 1440 pixels) display panels. It should be noted that Google recently announced it is acquiring a part of HTC’s smartphone team and the latter had confirmed that they will continue to operate as an independent smartphone maker. The team also talked about working on a new flagship and this rumored phone might actually be the same one.
Other specifications of the HTC U11 Plus are mentioned to be that of any other modern day flagship. It means there will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. In the camera department, one can expect a 12-megapixel rear shooter and an 8-megapixel front shooter.
The upcoming flagship will have the Edgen Sense feature which made its debut with the HTC U11. It will allow users to interact with the phone by simply squeezing the side frames. The battery capacity on the device is unknown but is said to support Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. There will also IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The report further mentions that the HTC U11 Plus will debut in China on November 11 but there are no words on the international availability yet.
