After a long wait of five years, Google Play Music is finally available in India for all the music lovers. Google’s music streaming service is currently available on the web as well as on Android and iOS. But it is a server-side switch from Google which means you will have to be patient with Play Music and Play Store apps if you are not seeing the option already.

Google Play Music consists of various sections like Top Songs, Top Albums, New Releases, and Hot New Music along with India-specific categories like Best of Bollywood, Devotional & Spiritual, Tamil, and Telugu. There is even a section dedicated to kids named as For the Kids.

Unfortunately, Google has not made its subscription service (priced at $9.99 per month) available in India. At the moment, users can choose to download either individual tracks or complete albums. The individual tracks are available for Rs. 15 per track and albums are available for as low as Rs. 90 but the actual price varies from album to album with as high as Rs. 200.

There is no doubt that Google has got quite late in entering the Indian market when it comes to music streaming. It will be facing a tough competition from local leaders like Wynk Music, Gaana, and Saavn. Google made Play Music available in the country exactly one day after announcements of various India-specific products like YouTube Go and Google Assistant in Hindi.
