India’s leading online movies and events ticket booking provider BookMyShow (BMS) has now started to test sending ticket confirmations via WhatsApp for Business platform. With this move, it has also become the first Indian ticketing brand to make use of the platform for catering to its audience.

BookMyShow has said that it has made WhatsApp for Business its default ticket confirmation channel during the test period. It mentioned that it has plans to cover the all user base in the coming few weeks. This basically means that as a user, you will be receiving your online ticket booking confirmation from BMS via WhatsApp. The official BMS account on the platform will feature a Green tick mark to help you recognize and avoid fake accounts which might try to dupe you. This is similar to how you see the Blue tick mark in front of verified accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Ravdeep Chawla, BookMyShow’s Head of Product said,

“WhatsApp has definitely become a preferred mode of communication for millions of people in our country and we could identify tremendous value in making it a default ticket confirmation channel.”

So from now onwards, if you book any ticket on BookMyShow, you will be receiving ticket confirmation and any other updates related to your booking directly on WhatsApp. But as the company has said it will be covering all users in next few weeks, you might have to wait for some time before you start receiving updates on WhatsApp.
