Google Play has completed five years since its inception which means it is the 5th anniversary of the digital store meant for Android devices. It made its debut on March 6th, 2012 and to celebrate the special occasion, Google has shared the list of top 5 apps, games, albums, movies, and books (for the U.S. region) along with a bunch other interesting numbers and deals for users.

Google Play has reached over 1 billion active users in 190 countries around the world since the day it was born. It currently boasts of hosting millions of apps, over 40 million songs, and more than 5 million books. It should be noted that Google now has a dedicated Play Store for wearables which was released with Android Wear 2.0.

Here is the list of top fives across all Play Store categories:

Top 5 Installed Android Games:

  1. Candy Crush Saga
  2. Subway Surfers
  3. Temple Run 2
  4. Despicable Me
  5. Clash of Clans

Top 5 Installed Android Apps:

  1. Facebook
  2. Facebook Messenger
  3. Pandora Radio
  4. Instagram
  5. Snapchat

You can see that out of the top 5 apps, three apps are owned by Facebook which is a clear indication of Mark Zuckerberg’s domination. It should also be noted that Google has excluded all those apps from the list which come pre-installed on Android devices.
