As expected previously, HTC has now officially unveiled its new U-series with the launch of two new smartphones: HTC U Ultra and U Play. The U Ultra is a phablet offering from the Taiwanese company and also accompanies HTC Sense Companion AI. As for the U Play, it is a mid-ranger smartphone with focus on price sensitive markets.
The USP of both of these HTC U smartphones is the introduction of the AI named HTC Sense Companion. This AI is said to learn from users as they will keep on using smartphones and will show suggestions accordingly. For example, it will suggest you for charging the phone when the battery level is low and you have a flight to take ahead. It can also show you restaurant recommendations when it’s lunch time.
HTC has opted for all glass unibody design instead of metal unibody design which has been referred as “Liquid Surface.” It has used Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides of phones with aluminum frame on sides. There are no 3.5mm headphone jacks this time and U Ultra features USB Type-C port.
HTC U Ultra Specifications:
As for specifications, the HTC U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super LCD display. It also has a secondary display at the top just like you must have seen in the LG V20. This secondary display will be used for showing information integrated with HTC Sense Companion AI. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. There is a 12MP rear shooter with 1.55-micron pixels, OIS, PDAF, and laser autofocus. On the front, it has a 16MP UltraPixel shooter for taking selfies.
The phablet comes with 64GB storage on the base model and there is a high-end model with 128GB storage which will also feature sapphire glass. Both storage models feature support for microSD card up to 2TB. There is a 3000mAh battery and it will be shipping with HTC Sense UI based on Nougat 7.0.
