The Chinese tech unicorn Xiaomi is now reported to be planning to launch the Redmi Note 4 in India next month. The exact launch date for the phone is unknown but it is said to happen sometime around mid-January 2017. It is the successor to one of the best-selling Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi Note 3.

The Redmi Note 4 was first launched in China, a few months ago, with Helio X20 processor but as Xiaomi can’t release MediaTek-powered devices in India, it has to opt for Snapdragon processor. This is the reason released the Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 SoC in India earlier this year.

As for the successor Redmi Note 4, it is reported to feature Snapdragon 625 processor which we are founding to be a weird choice if true. It is not only a processor lower in the rank than the one in Redmi Note 3 but is also powering the cheaper Redmi 4 Prime smartphone. I was earlier expecting it to feature Snapdragon 652 SoC instead. As a result, we would suggest you take this rumor with a big teaspoon of salt. Other than this, it is said to have 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB RAM variants when it comes to India.

The remaining specifications are said to be same as the Redmi Note 4 Chinese variant. There will be a 5.5-inch Full HD display. On the back, there is a 13MP shooter with dual-LED flash. For taking selfies, it has a 5MP front camera. The whole package is powered by a 4100mAh battery and will be running MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. The phone is expected to cost around Rs. 11,999 at the time of the launch.
