Sony took the IFA 2016 stage to unveil two smartphones, the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact. The first one is the latest flagship offering from Sony and the second one is the ‘compact’ model making a return.

Sony Xperia XZ:

The Sony Xperia XZ is the flagship smartphone in the X series that was introduced by Sony at this year’s MWC event in Barcelona. The phone is a head turner for sure as it features a stunning design and is made up of a new trademarked material named as ALKALEIDO. Sony also introduced a new color variant called Forest Blue which is exclusive to the Xperia XZ.

Talking about the specs, the Xperia XZ sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with 3GB RAM. It has a 23MP rear shooter which uses Sony’s newly developed IMX300 sensor. It boasts of triple image sensing technology said to be capable of allowing you to click blur-free photos even if the subject is constantly moving. It also supports 4K video recording. On the front, you will find a 13MP shooter.

The phone offers 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 200GB via microSD card. The whole package is powered by a 2900mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and also features USB Type-C port along with a fingerprint scanner.

Sony Xperia X Compact:

The Sony Xperia X Compact looks like the Xperia XZ but essentially is the smaller version of the Xperia X. It sports a 4.6-inch display with 720p resolution. The phone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC with 3GB RAM like the Xperia X. It has a 23MP primary camera with the same sensor and triple image sensing tech as the Xperia XZ but 4K video recording is missing. On the front, it has a 5MP camera as compared to the 13MP on the Xperia X.

The whole package is powered by a 2700mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. It offers 32GB of internal storage and features USB Type-C port and fingerprint scanner.

The pricing details of both the Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact will be announced as and when they will be made available around the world.
