Xiaomi has delivered on its promise that it would bring the Mi 5 smartphone in India soon. The Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced by Hugo Barra at event held in Delhi, India earlier today. Xiaomi has released only the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant which means if you were waiting for the 3GB RAM/64GB storage or 4GB RAM/128GB storage variant, you will have to look for some other means to get them.
The Mi 5 will go on sale from April 6 and will be available via Xiaomi’s online store at Mi.com. It has been priced at Rs. 24,999 (about $378) which is slightly expensive in my opinion.
For a quick overview, the Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch Full HD IPS display. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (underclocked at 1.8GHz) with Adreno 530 GPU. There is a 16MP rear shooter with phase detection autofocus, LED flash, and 4-axis OIS. On the front, you will get a 4MP UltraPixel camera for taking selfies.
The whole package is powered by a 3000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. It will be shipping with MIUI based on Android Marshmallow. Other features include a USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, NFC, and VoLTE compatibility.
