Xiaomi has confirmed the official launch date for the much-awaited Mi 5 in India. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched in India on March 31 at an event to be held in India. During the Indian launch of the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra had already hinted that the phone would be made available in India within one month. While Xiaomi has already sent out the media invites, Hugo Barra also confirmed the launch date via a Facebook post.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 was first introduced to the world during MWC 2016 event held in Barcelona. The phone has been announced in three variants: 3GB RAM/32GB storage, 3GB RAM/64GB storage, and 4GB RAM/128GB storage. The last variant is also known as the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro.
The remaining specifications are same in all the three variants. The Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with Adreno 530 GPU. There is a 16MP rear shooter with 4-axis OIS and phase detection autofocus. On the front, you will get a 4MP UltraPixel camera. The whole package is powered by a 3000mAh battery along with support for Quick Charge 3.0. It will be shipping with MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow.
While the official pricing of the smartphone for the Indian market is unknown at the moment, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun had hinted that it would be priced between Rs. 20,000 (about $300) to Rs. 27,000 (about $405).
