Asus launched a number of smartphones under its ZenFone 2 series this year and now, it is working on the successor ZenFone 3 series. There is not much information available about what to expect from Asus, but if a report from Digitimes is to be believed, the ZenFone 3 series smartphones will be released in the first half of 2016 and feature a fingerprint scanner. If it comes out to be true, it will be the first smartphone from Asus to feature a fingerprint scanner.

The report further mentions that Asus is expected to collaborate with China-based Goodfix and Taiwan-based Elan Microelectronics for implementing fingerprint scanners. It also mentions that companies like Goodfix and Elan may make the price of fingerprint scanner ICs fall as low as $5 per IC next year.

The sources of Digitimes also pointed out that Asus may also look for expansion next year. The company is expected to expand to Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Myanmar, and Nigeria next year. As for the shipments, Asus is expected to ship 20 million smartphones this year which is expected to be at least 30 million in 2016.
